Thoughts On Solostar

I just wanted to know everyone's opinion on Solange's first album, "Solostar"? I think the album was good...easily on par with the rest of the mainstream R&B at the time, it was better than most honestly. I think with her new album we hear her vocal growth, but on her first album she could still sing, production was dope, and she was writing her music even back then...gotta give props. What do you all think of it?

Solo Star was my Album. Loved every song, But it wsn't a good album collective bt each record was Hot! I was blowin away at how good it was. Alot of catch chorus, tight beats and just to know she was writing on on songs made me a winner. I really did think she could have been on the level on Rihanna, I could so hear here doing Rihanna songs before we knew she was going on with another album. The girl should can sing better then her.

My fave tracks were " Crush, Get Together, Solo Star, This Could be Love and a few others.,

^^^My fave songs too...I love Get Together and Solo Star. Also really like Wonderland and Ain't No Way...but I also really enjoyed the whole album.

I constantly have songs like I Used To, Wonderland, Feelin' You Pt. 1 & Crush on repeat... Collectively, I think the album was wayyy to long. It'll should a normal length album, that would introduce the world to SOLO, but I thought it sorta came off as her trying to prove she can be versatile...IMO

this could be love, get together, crush, wonderland, i used to, feel good song, were my faves.

that album was slept on as well and poorly promoted.

I bought the 2 versions, and my favorite track always been Crush. There is a good remix of it on the 2nd version of the album (the one with the pink cover). It was far from being a bad album, but there was not this special touch there is now in the new album. I guess she was looking for her own way, but she was very young and talented. I still listen at this one.
